Horizon 2020 Project MAGNETO

Case Studies Horizon 2020 Project MAGNETO

Project MAGNETO:

Multimedia Analysis and Correlation Engine for Organised Crime Prevention and Investigation

Project MAGNETO addressed the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in managing massive, fragmented data volumes by developing an AI-driven, modular platform. This platform leveraged advanced knowledge representation, semantic reasoning, and augmented intelligence to fuse diverse data sources, uncover hidden relationships, and generate actionable evidence for court use. Its AI capabilities enhanced data analysis, trend detection, and decision-making, empowering LEAs with faster and more precise tools for combating terrorism and organised crime.

CBRNE Ltd led the Scientific and Technical Advisory Board (STAB) and Ethics Advisory Board (ETHAB), ensuring AI systems adhered to technical, ethical, and legal standards. It also developed and delivered training programs to help LEAs effectively utilise the AI-enabled tools.

CBRNE contributed significantly to the legal and ethical aspects of the AI platform by conducting Privacy, Legal, and Ethical Impact Assessments to ensure compliance with fundamental rights. It guided the development of access control models to ensure transparency and accountability in AI data use and supported the creation of ethical guidelines for the deployment of AI-driven forensic tools, safeguarding both public safety and individual privacy.
