FP7 Project EDEN
Project EDEN:
End-User Driven Demo for CBRNe
Project EDEN aimed to improve resilience against chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats by creating the “toolbox of toolboxes” EDEN Store. This innovative platform offered interoperable, certified tools tailored to stakeholders’ needs, promoting cross-border cooperation and enhanced system integration for effective incident management. The project validated its solutions through themed demonstrations addressing multiple hazards, phases of response, and diverse stakeholders, ensuring practical and sustainable CBRNE resilience across Europe.
CBRNE Ltd contributed to EDEN by developing ethical and legal frameworks, including ethical monitoring, volunteer guidance, and informed consent protocols. It authored the Crisis Communication: A Handbook for CBRNE Incident Responders, offering essential strategies for effective communication during crises. Additionally, CBRNE Ltd prepared training materials for resilience assessment tools, assisted users in their implementation, and collected data from nuclear and food-related scenarios to evaluate resilience improvements. The company also analysed societal impacts, focusing on public perception, vulnerable groups, and communication strategies, contributing to the Public Perceptions of CBRNE Crises report and the EDEN Communication Kit, which provided best practices for communication and resilience management.
