FP7 Project CAMINO
Project CAMINO:
Comprehensive Approach to Cyber Roadmap Coordination and Development
Project CAMINO developed a roadmap to improve resilience against cybercrime and cyber terrorism, addressing technical, human, legal, and ethical dimensions of cybersecurity. The project engaged diverse stakeholders, including LEAs, CERTs, governments, and industry, to create practical and inclusive recommendations. It bridged the gap between rapid technological advancements and slower regulatory evolution, ensuring that proposed solutions were realistic and actionable.
CBRNE Ltd’s role was to contribute expertise in human behaviour, human factors, and ethics. The company addressed critical ethical and privacy concerns, including data protection, ransom payment ethics, lawful interception, and privacy-enhancing technologies. It also examined the ethical implications of cyber extortion, the right to be forgotten, and data reuse, ensuring these were integrated into the roadmap. By aligning the project with the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights and data protection standards, CBRNE Ltd helped CAMINO establish a balanced approach to cybersecurity, promoting ethical and effective measures to combat evolving cyber threats.
