More than 2,000 professionals from Romanian public institutions participated in two webinars on AI governance and the EU AI Act delivered with expert support from CBRNE through the AI ORA initiative. The sessions reached employees working across IT, data management, human resources, procurement, public policy, legal affairs, compliance, public services and data protection.
The webinars were organised by Fundația Progress, in collaboration with the National Agency of Civil Servants – ANFP. CBRNE and AI ORA experts Dr Irina Marsh and Mihai Nămoloșanu provided expertise in AI governance, ethics, compliance, AI systems and technical governance.
The discussions focused on the immediate organisational implications of the EU AI Act: mapping formal and informal AI use, classifying risks, assessing suppliers, developing AI literacy, protecting institutional data and introducing effective human oversight and accountability.
Following the webinars, the experts developed an Integrated Q&A Inventory on EU AI Act Compliance based directly on participants’ questions. The guide addresses lawful AI use, GDPR, cybersecurity, procurement, infrastructure, hallucinations, inaccurate outputs, human oversight and professional training.
It offers practical orientation on what data can safely be entered into AI applications, how institutions should verify AI-generated content, who is responsible when incorrect outputs are used, what minimum internal governance rules should be introduced, and how different professional roles should be trained.
The complete dissemination package also contains the webinar presentation, two participant survey reports and a session evaluation. Together, these materials provide insight into current AI use, the risk of ungoverned or informal adoption, and the demand for clearer institutional policies, practical training and approved tools.
The initiative shows how public-private-NGO collaboration can turn regulatory and technical knowledge into practical resources with longer-term value. CBRNE supports this work through AI ORA and contributes expertise in responsible AI integration, governance, ethics, compliance and organisational readiness.
